About Me
- The Brillig Blogger
- A blog wherein a literary agent will sometimes discuss his business, sometimes discuss the movies he sees, the tennis he watches, or the world around him. In which he will often wish he could say more, but will be obliged by business necessity and basic politeness and simple civility to hold his tongue. Rankings are done on a scale of one to five Slithy Toads, where a 0 is a complete waste of time, a 2 is a completely innocuous way to spend your time, and a 4 is intended as a geas compelling you to make the time.

Funny Book Round-Up
I have to give a quick shout-out #3 of the Superman: Secret Origin series, which I think came out two weeks ago, and it was wonderful. Writer Geoff Johns had worked with Richard Donner on his story arc for Superman a year or two ago, as I recall, and this was a wonderful "Earth 2" kind of rewrite of the first day in Metropolis from Superman: The Movie, hitting almost all the same notes but not quite exactly the same way. There's Superman, Lois and a helicopter at the end, but it's all designed to fit in with the current Superman continuity and approach to Supes and Lex Luthor. It's almost like what Superman: The Movie might be if Richard Donner was directing it today. And I like the artist as well. Gary Frank is nice and clean in a good John Byrne kind of a way, which reminds me that I'm old enough to be on at least my 2nd major retelling of Superman's origin, Byrne himself having done one back in the 1980s. This was a good issue of a low-key but entertaining series that I would recommend.
