About Me

A blog wherein a literary agent will sometimes discuss his business, sometimes discuss the movies he sees, the tennis he watches, or the world around him. In which he will often wish he could say more, but will be obliged by business necessity and basic politeness and simple civility to hold his tongue. Rankings are done on a scale of one to five Slithy Toads, where a 0 is a complete waste of time, a 2 is a completely innocuous way to spend your time, and a 4 is intended as a geas compelling you to make the time.

something else to like

I've never been a big fan of actually shopping at The Gap, but every once in a while they come up with some really wonderful ads. Their ads this holiday season are among their very best. I knew they were Gap ads from the start, because the stark white background and dancing casual clothes wearers harken back to some of their earlier ad campaigns. But they also felt fresh and new. Without the artifice and artiness of some of the recent Levi's ads which you know to be jeans ads because they keep having quick closeups of the logo on the back of a pair of pants, but don't say anything. Are these ads going to turn me into a Gap customer? Enh, No. But I think they're some of the best ads I've seen for anything since the Burger King musical ads about the macho guys pushing pick-up trucks off overpasses. Which didn't get me to return to my youth and become a Burger King afficianado again, either.

I really liked the "Give a Little Bit" ads from a few years back.
